P\u0159irozen\u011b se vyskytuje pouze v lo\u017eisc\u00edch moissanitu a jeho hromadn\u00e1 v\u00fdroba za\u010dala v roce 1893 bu\u010f ve form\u011b zrnit\u00e9ho pr\u00e1\u0161ku, nebo tvrd\u00fdch krystal\u016f pro pou\u017eit\u00ed jako brusivo. Krom\u011b toho lze SiC tak\u00e9 spojovat sp\u00e9k\u00e1n\u00edm do vysoce odoln\u00fdch keramick\u00fdch struktur.<\/p>\n<p>Zelen\u00fd slinut\u00fd karbid k\u0159em\u00edku se vyr\u00e1b\u00ed taven\u00edm k\u0159emenn\u00e9ho p\u00edsku, ropn\u00e9ho koksu a soli v odporov\u00e9 peci p\u0159i vysok\u00fdch teplot\u00e1ch. Jeho tvrdost podle Mohsovy stupnice le\u017e\u00ed mezi korundem a diamantem; nav\u00edc se vyzna\u010duje vynikaj\u00edc\u00ed hou\u017eevnatost\u00ed a trvanlivost\u00ed.
